The Packinghouse Dining Company
441 Mulberry Street, Galesburg, IL 61401
Restaurants
American steak house serving beef, chicken and seafood.
Built in 1912 with solid steel and concrete, it wasn't until 1978 before the building was converted into a restaurant. The historic building was given new life as the Packinghouse Dining Company. Conversions of this scale were uncommon in the seventies, and the Packinghouse was recognized by the National Trust of Historic Preservation as a role model for its “Main Street” program. Many of the original aspects are still standing throughout the building: the original walk-in cooler doors, the freight elevator doors, and the sales chalkboard among them. This unique beef processing plant turned-restaurant has been serving crave-worthy food to the Galesburg community for now over 40 years. When you make a trip to Galesburg, the Packinghouse is just one of the many local restaurants that you can’t miss!
