Enjoy movies as they are meant to be seen!
The Illinois Theater is the longest-running theater in Jacksonville featuring 5 screens, including balcony theaters.
Illinois Theater is currently where the Grand Opera House of 1892 stood. In the 1920's the Opera House began showing movies and was later renamed Illinois Theater in 1927. While being operated by Fox Theatres Corporation it was closed and demolished in 1938. Today's Illinois Theater building was 1 of 4 theaters designed in Illinois by the Boller Brothers which was an architectural firm out of Kansas City which specialized in theater design in the Midwest. This new Illinois Theater opened on March 9, 1939 and again it was operated by Fox Theatres Corporation.
