Joseph Smith, the Prophet (1805-1844), commissioned a tomb to be constructed for his family here in Nauvoo. For nearly 100 years, no one thought much about the tomb where Joseph Smith wanted his family buried, and its exact location was lost. But there were clues left behind. In this museum you will discover the history behind the tomb. You will see information on the several proposed locations, and get to personally inspect the only one open to the public
