The Kennicott House
1421 N. Milwaukee Ave., Glenview, IL 60025
Historic Sites
The Kennicott House belonged to John Kennicott (1802–1863) and his family who settled 123 acres in Glenview on land now called The Grove, which was declared a National Historic Landmark in 1976.
In 1856, Dr. John Kennicott built this majestic Gothic Revival House for his growing family. The exterior of the house has been fully restored with careful attention paid to each historical detail from the sharply peaked roof line to the rain barrels on the back porch. The interior of the house has been restored with 19th century furniture, including many pieces that actually belonged to the Kennicott’s. The house is open to the public on Saturdays and Sundays from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. year-round and also on Tuesdays and Thursdays during the summer months.
